On Dec. 6, the Howard High School Army JROTC Lions Battalion pridefully competed at the drill competition held at Atholton High School. The Lions Battalion came ready to show off their exceptional drill skills. The Drill team competed against many different schools in events such as regulation, exhibition, inspection, and color guard, with both unarmed and armed divisions.

“It was an absolute honor representing Howard’s unarmed inspection team. It was fun to win the competition with my team and answer questions about waffles,” said Cadet Vincent You.

The cadets were hardworking and dedicated countless hours to perfecting their skills and ensuring that their every move was precise. Their discipline and commitment were evident in their performance. Although the competition was tough, the Lions Battalion proved that their hard work did not go to waste. Both teams, armed and unarmed, had cohesive routines marked by excelled spacing and synchronization. Fortunately, the Howards Lion Battalion Regulation team placed first overall.

Overall, the Howard High School Army JROTC Lions Battalions participating in the Drill Brigade was another example of the hard work, discipline, and devotion instilled by the JROTC Army Program. This continues to prepare cadets for more future leadership opportunities and increases their strengths, teamwork, and confidence.

“Drill BOB was a great experience! I got to compete alongside my friends and see our hard work practicing pay off,” said Cadet Ella Leidmer.
